Wig Care Tips: How to Keep Your Amber Jean Wig Looking Beautiful

Share

If you’ve invested in an Amber Jean wig, it’s not just a purchase — it’s an emotional and financial investment. That’s why we’re here to help your piece have the longest, happiest life possible. With the right care, your Amber Jean wig can last between a year to a year and a half. Over time, minor shedding may occur, particularly around the baby hairs, but this is completely normal.

At the one-year mark, we offer the Amber-G repair service, where you can send your wig back to us for a full revamp, giving her a fresh, new lease of life.

Here are our top tips to ensure your wig stays healthy, natural, and long-lasting:

Don’t sleep in your wig – Sleeping in your piece is one of the fastest ways to shorten its lifespan. Only sleep in it if absolutely necessary.

Avoid swimming in your wig – Chlorine and seawater can damage the hair. If you want to swim, tie your hair up or clip it out of the water instead of dunking it.

Protect your wig from direct sunlight – Over time, sun exposure can lift the color of your wig. If you’re outdoors for extended periods, especially on summer holidays, protect your hair with a scarf, hat, or Amber Jean headwear.

Wash your wig only when needed – Daily wear doesn’t require frequent washing. Typically, washing once every three weeks is sufficient. Always use your Ambutine shampoo and mask, leaving the mask in for at least an hour, or even overnight, to hydrate and nourish the hair. Remember, your wig doesn’t receive natural scalp oils, so it relies on proper hydration to stay healthy.

Don’t let others try on your wig – Wigs are customized to your head shape. Allowing others to wear your piece can stretch it and affect the fit.

Limit high-intensity exercise – Excessive sweating can shorten the life of your wig by requiring more frequent washes. If you exercise in your wig, consider using a headband or tying your hair in an inner plait to reduce friction and maintain the fit.

Use heat tools sparingly – While human hair can be styled, excessive heat can cause damage. Always use a heat protection spray when blow-drying, curling, or straightening your wig.

Be gentle – Avoid pulling, tugging, or rough handling. Your wig is precious, so treat it with care to maintain its shape, style, and longevity.

Following these tips will help your Amber Jean piece look natural, feel comfortable, and last as long as possible. With the right care, your wig can start feeling like your own hair, allowing you to live confidently day to day.
